Build a Small Mechanical World for Your Desk

Clear a space at the table for a hands-on project, then give the finished piece a place on your bookshelf or desk. The Da Vinci Helicopter brings a spiral rotor, silver propeller and warm illuminated details into a compact mechanical display. Add the Morse Telegraph or Oil Extractor in a linked set, or choose all four models with the Lighthouse for a fuller industrial scene.

Pick a Project or Build the Collection

  • Da Vinci Helicopter: one 154-piece helicopter model kit.
  • Helicopter + Morse Telegraph + 1 Hub: two model kits and one link hub kit.
  • Helicopter + Oil Extractor + 1 Hub: two model kits and one link hub kit.
  • Complete 4-Model Set + 3 Hubs: helicopter, Morse Telegraph, Oil Extractor and Lighthouse model kits, plus three link hub kits.

The multi-model choices include the listed hub kits for arranging compatible display bases together. The standalone helicopter option does not include a hub.

Enjoy the Details After Assembly

Work through the small mechanical parts at your own pace, then use the completed model as a conversation piece in a study, workshop corner or display cabinet. The model kits contain metal parts; the link hub's main material is plastic. Photos show assembled examples—your selection arrives as kits to build.

Plan Your Display Space

  • Helicopter: 154 pieces; assembled size about 4.37 × 3.70 × 10.04 in.
  • Morse Telegraph: 60 pieces; assembled size about 2.52 × 2.76 × 4.41 in.
  • Oil Extractor: 127 pieces; assembled size about 5.31 × 3.15 × 9.57 in.
  • Lighthouse: 60 pieces; assembled size about 3.15 × 2.28 × 6.34 in.

A USB-C cable is required for powered display and is not included in any set. Choose your package for the models and hubs you want to assemble, then provide the cable separately when you set up the illuminated display.

open box

Opened the box and found the dark and gold parts still bagged on their frames. Definitely a project, not a ready-made display.

connected pair

My helicopter and telegraph are linked by the black bridge in the photo, manual still behind them. They make a fun little pair.

look at the back

This close-up is why I keep turning the helicopter around. The pipes, gauge, and clear cylinders are the good stuff.

desk setup

Helicopter on one side of my PC, telegraph on the other. The warm lights look surprisingly good with all the blue RGB.

tiny red glow

Got the telegraph model too. That little red cylinder and the side wheel look great on the dark tabletop.

side view

The side profile shows off the spiral rotor and all the brass-colored bits underneath. Took this one on my striped tabletop.

next to my screen

Yep, it's on my desk beside the monitor. The propeller steals the show.

on the hallway table

Here's mine on the light tabletop by the doorway. That tall spiral makes it easy to spot from across the room.

Done!

Finished helicopter on the gray counter, warm light showing through the back. I took way too many photos.

bits everywhere

Gold and dark parts in the bags, then the rotor and base laid out on the table. My halfway point looked like a tiny repair shop.

first look

Mine started as shiny parts on frames spread over the manual. Took a minute to believe that pile would become a helicopter lol.

The propeller bit

Had the body in both hands while fitting the front propeller. That was the moment it started looking like a real model.

from pieces to desk

First photo is me working through the parts. Second is the helicopter standing on my messy desk. Yep, I was proud.

my two builds

Front of the helicopter in one pic, the little wheel model beside it in the other. Kinda obsessed with how different they look together.

Very cool build.

Nice but delicate

I like how it looks, though I'm careful when moving it around. Those little details deserve a steady hand.

Patient build

Good kit if you enjoy taking your time. Not a quick snap-together job.

The details

I thought I'd stare at the propeller. Nope, it's the tiny engine pieces.

Morse kit

The little red-lit telegraph is a nice sidekick to the taller helicopter.

This was my kinda weekend.

Looks better after a week

I liked it when I finished it, but it grew on me once I found a proper spot. The warm glow helps. Friends notice the propeller first, then get close and start asking about all the tiny bits around the engine.

Put my phone down for two hours and made a tiny helicopter. Not a bad afternoon.

Cool, just a bit fiddly.

Too much for me

I underestimated the time and attention this build needs. The result is good, but I wasn't really in the mood for a detailed project.

Needs a steady hand

Some pieces are small enough that I had to slow way down. Looks great once assembled.

No regrets.

surprise favorite

I bought the complete set for the helicopter, but the lighthouse ended up being my favorite piece to look at. The four models feel like they belong to the same little world without all looking alike. Building them was a longer project than I expected, which was fine with me; I did one at a time over several evenings. The linked display takes up real room, so give it a proper spot before you start.

Actually pretty cool.
